The Career

Nearly two decades inside
a Fortune 500 enterprise.
Then this.

Terence Exodus joined UnitedHealthcare in 2007 and has spent nearly two decades working inside one of the country's largest and most complex enterprise environments.

Over that career, he has worked across operations, products, processes, systems, and cross-functional teams, and currently serves as a Product Owner.

Terence also holds a Business degree with a concentration in Management, adding formal business training to nearly two decades of enterprise product and operations experience.

UnitedHealthcare is part of UnitedHealth Group, a Fortune 500 parent company, giving Terence years of firsthand experience operating inside an organization where products, technology, processes, regulation, customer needs, and operational execution all have to work together.

That experience has shaped the way he approaches Hold-It: understand the problem clearly, think through the edge cases, build deliberately, measure what works, and improve from evidence.

Terence continues his professional career while building Hold-It Financial Inc. — supporting his family and building the company toward the point where Hold-It can ultimately become his full-time focus.

"I didn't build Hold-It because I came from banking. I built it because I understand systems — and I experienced the problem personally."

My responsibility as a founder is to surround that idea with the financial, legal, compliance, technical, and banking expertise required to build it responsibly.

The Founding Story

The trip that
started everything.

01 — THE TRIP

Terence and his wife planned a family cruise to celebrate their eldest daughter's graduation. Like many families, they wanted to enjoy the experience without bringing the cost of the vacation home afterward.

02 — THE REALITY

They planned. They tried to save. They still returned home carrying travel debt. The problem wasn't that the trip didn't matter. The problem was everything that happened between deciding to save and the day they left.

03 — THE REALIZATION

The problem wasn't desire. It was protecting the commitment. Money intended for a future trip still has to survive everyday life long enough to become travel money.

That experience created the question behind Hold-It: Could a better commitment structure help travelers protect the financial intention they already made?

"What I needed wasn't another place to look at a balance. I needed something that kept the trip visible, kept the commitment real, celebrated progress, and made me think before abandoning the plan."

The Philosophy

Built on one belief:

A great trip shouldn't have to follow you home as debt.

Commitment Before Complexity

Hold-It begins with a decision made months before departure: I'm going on this trip, and I want to prepare for it intentionally.

Positive Friction

Modern financial products are often designed to remove friction. Hold-It asks a different question: can the right amount of friction help someone protect a decision they already made? The commitment is what we're proving first. The future financial controls come after we know the behavior deserves to be built around.

Build From Evidence

Hold-It is intentionally validating the behavioral premise before building the larger regulated financial infrastructure envisioned for the future product.

Save Now. Live the Exodus Later.

The goal is to help travelers prepare for the experience before they live it — so the memories can last longer than the payments.

Why We're Starting Here

Why we're starting
here.

The original Hold-It vision was ambitious from the beginning: a regulated Travel Vault, Time + GPS controls, and a Cold Card designed around the moment a traveler actually reaches the experience they saved for.

That vision still matters to me.

But the deeper I worked through what it takes to build a regulated financial product responsibly, the more I came back to a simpler question:

Will people actually make and keep the commitment?

I don't believe Hold-It should spend years and millions of dollars building financial infrastructure before answering that.

So we're starting with the commitment.

The Hold-It Evidence Program is being developed to help us understand that behavior while participants remain in control of their own money.

If the evidence supports moving forward, the regulated product comes next.

Future Product Concept

The vision is
still bigger.

Hold-It is ultimately being built around a larger idea: financial preparation for travel should happen before debt becomes the easiest option.

The future roadmap includes concepts such as a regulated Travel Vault, Time + GPS financial controls, and the Cold Card.

Those features are not part of the current Evidence Program. Building them will require the appropriate product development, funding, financial partners, legal and compliance work, and required approvals.

The vision didn't shrink. The order became clearer.
